About Shaun

With a career in superannuation and financial planning since 2005, I’ve been fortunate to help many Australians navigate financial decisions and plan for their next life chapters with confidence.

The path to my profession began through a family connection that ignited my interest for financial planning. I was inspired by my mother who had a career in hospitality, child care and later in life, financial planning.

Seeing how financial planning could positively affect many different people with different circumstances, I began the education journey in my mid-twenties to gain the finance related qualifications and was fortunate to join a well-established
superannuation company, Telstra Super. I initially found the complexities of finance matters, in particular superannuation and tax, very confusing to navigate and knew that I had a long path of experience and education to take.

However, what drew me to financial planning was the opportunity to play a guiding role, offering education, guidance and support to individuals and families as they make decisions that shape their future.

I’ve gained invaluable experience over the years working with leading financial institutions and developed a deep understanding of the challenges Australian’s face as they near retirement, as well as the opportunities that come with it.
I enjoy passing on my knowledge and ‘clearing the fog’ for the people I speak with to make it easier to understand the financial options they are faced with.

Success is not just measured by career achievements but by the impact we have on those we love and the community we serve

My personal goal is to lead a well-balanced and fulfilling life revolving around my family. I’m a proud husband and father of three young children. I enjoy the role that sport plays in our family and it’s a joy watching my children play basketball, football and cricket.

I enjoy being connected with my local community by taking an interest in coaching and being a committee member for our junior sporting clubs in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I am a tragic Western Bulldogs supporter in the AFL and 2016 was a special year in my life. I feel privileged to hold the role of financial planner at About Retirement and helping our clients approach retirement with confidence and fulfill their goals in retirement.
